Marskinkuusikko Project

Property Geophysics

The Marskinkuusikko Project straddles the Seurojoki River, and is very difficult to access despite the fact that it occurs in an area with excellent infrastructure.

Geophysical work was conducted on two grids on the property, that are known as the Suolla 1 and Suolla 2 grids. The features form prominent magnetic highs on the aeromagnetic maps of the area (see the Regional geophysical map). A linear magnetic high was identified on the Suolla 1 grid which has a coincident electromagnetic anomaly flanked by a separate conductive horizon to the west. This target is considered a high priority target, and could be related to conductive sulfides.

The second grid (Suolla 2) identified the same horizon, and is characterized by a number of electromagnetic anomalies that lie on the flanks of the magnetic highs. The horizon appears to be highly contorted and thickened by structural folding, and numerous pieces of sulfide-bearing quartz have been found at surface in float that suggest the presence of similar rock in the subsurface.

Marskinkuusikko Highlights

Trees covered with snows in Northern Finland

  • Several coincident magnetic and electromagnetic anomalies at Marskinkuusikko indicate the presence of high altered or sulfide-bearing units below the glacial till cover, and need to be tested by diamond drilling to verify the presence of gold mineralizaation
