Marskinkuusikko Project

Regional Geophysics Overview

The following image shows a compilation of the regional aeromagnetics over the Kittila Mine/Marskinkuusikko Area.

Owing to the presence of a thin, but laterally extensive covering of glacial till in the area, bedrock exposure is virtually non existent. Geophysics are used to try and trace the bedrock geology in the area, and locate prospective targets.

The above image clearly shows the presence of a large "U"-shaped fold in the area, and seems to suggest that the prospective Kittila Mine area is folded back to the northwest along the Marskinkuusikko Project. Detailed ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys on the property provide additional evidence of this interpretation, and can be seen on the following page (Detailed Ground Geophysics)

  • Marskinkuusikko is an example of the type of projects that generated by taking some of the regional data and studying the information to identify other areas of prospective gold mineralization
