Naakenvaara (Vitsakumpu) Project

Overview

Vitsakumpu in Finnish translates to "Birch Hill", a reference to the prominent topographic hill covered in birch trees that lies under the 4 Mining Claims owned 100% by Tailtiu Oy that form the Naakenvaara Project. Pervasive alteration and copper gold mineralization over 1.5 km2 area in area between Kitillä and Kettukuusikko Project, excellent access.  Geologic target is a possible undiscovered intrusive responsible for mineralization, or perhaps a flat-lying sedimentary contact between volcanics and sediments that is enriched in copper, gold and nickel. One or more than one gold-copper mineralized zones have been outlined by the GTK: 1–15 m thick sections of "ore-grade" gold or copper are encountered in drill holes separated by up to 1 km.

The photograph below is of drill hole R-618 and shows the pervasive nature of copper mineralization found on the project.

Location

The project is located in the Nakkenavaara-Naakenavuoma and Putaanperä areas 10 km ENE and 17 km NE from the town of Kittilä.  It is 3 km to a sealed road from the project, with a gravel rod that goes directly to the area and is accessible during the summer.

History: Extensive ground geophysics done over the past 15 years ago by the GTK, and drilling completed by the GTK.  BHP Billiton had claims over the area, but it is unknown if any work was completed by BHP Billiton.

GTK (1970's) [1]: Exploration for base metals in the area: Bedrock mapping, trenching, electromagnetic, magnetic and gravimetric ground survey, diamond drilling.

GTK (1994–1996) [1]: Exploration for gold: re-analyzing drill core from the 1970's, trenching, ground magnetic and VLF-R survey, and diamond drilling.
