Taranis is a precious metal exploration company with a focus in Nevada, Finland and Canada, but also actively evaluates and acquires advance-stage projects with exceptional geologic upside within stable political environments elsewhere in the world.
The recent economic turmoil in the markets have placed many junior mining companies in a difficult position. Taranis has no direct employees, and has no significant overhead costs since much of the exploration work is undertaken by Consulting/Contracting businesses that are managed by existing Directors. This contrasts with other junior mining companies that have significant overhead and employee costs, and consequently require financings at depressed market levels to continue day-to-day operations.
Taranis has actively been exploring Nevada for large size gold
properties through its DiRT Exploration program. This grass-roots
exploration effort started in December of 2009 and has surveyed
several pediment-covered areas. Taranis also has a number of other
exploration projects located in Canada and Finland. All of these projects are
managed and explored by Taranis Resources Inc., that boasts one of
the highest ratios of "dollars in the ground vs. dollars raised", assuring our
investors that our company will be successful in finding mines.
The objective of any junior mining company is to make a discovery and ultimately add value
to the shareholders with only limited financial resources, it is our belief that this can only be achieved if
Taranis follows some important guidelines:
Restrict its exploration to targets that are of sufficient size and caliber to warrant economic development.
Canada is perhaps one of the most highly endowed areas in the world when it comes to mining exploration, and it is our belief that British Columbia has recently turned the corner when it comes to mining policy changes. As a result of the inactivity in the mining sector in British Columbia in the past decade, it is Taranis' opinion that there remains a number of attractive exploration projects that present a tremendous opportunity to explore. Canada holds many other interesting areas of exploration, and we evaluate these on a selective basis.
Nevada is arguably one of the best places to mine a gold deposit in the world. Despite the fact that Nevada has been explored for over a century, companies are still discovering huge gold deposits such as Cortez Hills in areas that were simply not able to be explored by old-time prospectors. Nevada generally has excellent infrastructure, and the stability of public land in Nevada remains excellent. Some of the lowest cost gold mining operations in the world are found in this state. On the downside, the lengthy exploration history within Nevada means that much of the terrain has already had at least one "pass" of exploration, and the likelihood of discovering an economic deposit at surface is practically non-existent. In our opinion, exploration efforts in Nevada need to be targeted at exploring areas that are concealed or hidden, consequently geophysical and geological methods need to be used to "map" areas that are not seen at surface, and the targets must be drill-tested early in the exploration cycle. Consequently, exploration is a costly endeavor in mature mining districts, and exploration will require extensive drilling, before a determination can be made as to whether a property has merit! For this reason, it is necessary to carefully acquire properties of merit and systematically explore them. Patience, Perseverance and above all - Exploration Skill are virtues that are not to be overlooked in Nevada. There are plenty of exploration companies that "explore" Nevada - there are few junior mining companies that truly understand Nevada exploration.
Finland represents one of the most exciting areas for gold exploration in Europe. Finland's economic and political stability (it has been a member of the European Union since 2001), long mining history and geologic terrain, and world-class Geological Survey ("GTK") make it stand out from the rest of the countries in Europe. Most important, is the tremendous exploration potential in Northern Finland that resembles the Timmins, Matheson and Val d'Or regions of Ontario and Quebec. Not only does the geology bear a striking resemblance to its Canadian counterparts, but the terrain and the climate are also very similar. As a result of our company's exploration efforts in Finland, we have formed a Strategic Alliance in Finland with Royal Gold, Inc. of Denver, Colorado. It is our belief that the Strategic Alliance will make great strides in Finland and benefit the shareholders of both companies.
Thank You!
Finally, I would like to thank all of our shareholders for the support and help you have given us! If you are not a shareholder, we invite you to join us in our exciting quest - we know that you will enjoy the excitement of finding the next big ore deposits in Canada, Nevada or Finland!
