Overview of British Columbia Operations

British Columbia

The Thor Property is owned 100% by Taranis and encompasses a large land position immediately North of Trout Lake, and includes 23 Crown Grant Claims and over 18 km2 of additional exploration potential. Taranis owns 11 Mineral Tenures directly at Thor and has recently acquired an exploration property to the east called the Lime Dyke property.

Taranis will focus much of its short-term activity on delineating a high-grade gold zone that was discovered in 2012 immediately to the west of the true Fissure deposit and also portions of the deposit that remain undrilled, including the Scab Zone and Ridge Target.

The Foundation of Our Business

Rocks can be"Big-Business" and it is important to be able to understand what they tell us. They host all of the metals that we use in everyday life, include gold, silver, copper lead and zinc. To find out more information about Taranis, click on the View Page.

The Quest & Remote Places

Ore deposits have been sought for thousands of years, and the most obvious deposits have been already mined-out. The quest for these deposits takes us to places that are remote. To find out more infomation on our Thor Project, click on the View Page.

The Reward!

It is still possible to find gold, silver and other metals near surface provided you have all the "right stuff". The deposits need to be trenched and drilled to develop the mineral occurrences into Resources. To find out about the Resource Taranis has developed at Thor, click on the View Page.

Experience

Many ore deposits are no longer found using the traditional prospecting methods, and require an indepth knowledge of not only geology, but other sciences including geophysics, computer science and geochemistry. To find out more infomation on our Directors, click on the View Page.

The Single Tree in the Forest

Exploration is essentially seeing through the Forest and finding a valuable tree. Sometimes the tree cannot be seen with the naked eye and requires technology that was not available to old-time prospectors. To find out how we use geophysics in Finland, click on the View Page.

Drill Baby, Drill

It is almost impossible to build a valuable Resource without using diamond drills. Diamond drilling is costly, and when done correctly it can be used to build an NI 43-101 Resource of valuable metals in the ground. To find out how we used drills to build a +1 M tonne Resource at Thor, click on the View Page.

Separating Fact & Fiction

Once a promising deposit of metals is found, it is necessary to evaluate the ability to be able to recover these metals out of the ground. There are many means to refine and concentrate ore, including gravity separation, and flotation. To find out about the recent metallurgical work at Thor, click on the View Page.

Focused Exploration

One of the main criticism of junior exploration companies by the public is the lack of focus to develop Resources on a Property. To discover more on the Resource at Thor, click on the View Page.

NI 43-101 Resources

The objective of any exploration program should be the discovery and the identification of Mineral Resources that can ultimately be classified into an NI 43-101 Resource, and ultimately mined to the benefit of the economy and the company's shareholders. To find out more information about Taranis, click on the View Page.

Where People Meet Challenges

Exploration is a capital intensive business, and it involves a lot of problem solving to find solutions to problems to test and evaluate the potential of an exploration property. To find out more information about our Directors, click on the View Page.

Under that Landscape is Risk

Under all the beautiful landscapes and the setting sun, lies Risk! The prudent junior mining company learns how to manage risk carefully, and not casue excessive dilution to the shareholders of the company. To find out more information about our share capital, click on the View Page.

The Tools

Exploration involves using a "toolbox" of equipment, each tool tailored to accomplish a specific objective in the exploration program. They can range from a hand-lens to an excavator, each looking to find an ore deposit. To see some images in our Gallery, click on the View Page.

The News Contrail

Exploration involves getting your hands dirty to find the answers to the questions that guide the exploration directive, and this information needs to get publicised to inform shareholders of our progress. To find out more information about News Releases, click on the View Page.

Thor Project

Taranis identified the Thor project in British Columbia in 2007. Taranis has a large landholding in the area covering over 1,862.14 hectares (18.62 square km) and includes Crown Grant Mining Claims and Mineral Tenures that it has assembled into a single mining 'district'. Taranis has also purchased an extensive data collection in the area from Westmin Resources that includes not only previous work completed at Thor, but throughout the region. This comprehensive database serves as a valuable tool to expand on the exploration potential around Thor.

The Thor project consists of five old mines that were discovered in the late 1800's and early 1900's, and occur in a single stratigraphic horizon that extends for upward of 2 km in strike length. Most of the 2km strike length has been drilled at 45 meter drill section spacing and serves as the foundation for the NI 43-101 Resource estimate that was just completed (June 2013). In 2013, Taranis conducted extensive field exploration aimed at identifying targets outside of the existing deposit, and was rewarded in these efforts by the discovery of a number of zones outside the known area of mineralization.

Resource Estimate

In June 2013, Taranis completed a Resource Estimate on the 2007/2008 diamond drill hole inventory. Roscoe Postle Associates, Inc. undertook the first NI 43-101 ever completed on the project, and it was specifically designed to evaluate how much of the Resource was bulk mineable.

Metallurgy

In April of 2013, Taranis completed the first-ever bench scale metallurgical work, and this showed promising recoveries of gold, silver, lead and zinc. Two types of "ore" were analyzed, and this included the "Gold Target" and the "sulphide target" that includes most of the existing Resources on the Project.

Geology

The rocks at Thor are dominated by early Cambrian-age metasediments that are strongly deformed and sheared. These are folded into a very important structure called the "Thor Antiform". However, the Combined Metals Unit has tantalizing information that suggests it was once a stratiform massive sulfide deposit - now strongly overprinted by structural events.

Targets

Thor was explored as early as 1898. During the first half of the 20th century, the only exploration method of investigating the sub-surface involved the blasting of exploration adits into the deposit. Modern exploration methods utilize diamond drilling, and Taranis has drilled 152 drill holes enabling it to complete an unprecedented picture of what the deposit looks like in 3-dimensions.

Trout Lake, Nakusp and Revelstoke have a strong connection to the mining, forestry and natural resource business. Thor occurs in rugged terrain and it can only be explored for a maximum of 6 months out of every year, making explroation at this proejct particuarly demanding.

Although Taranis has extablished a Resource at Thor, there remains many other areas that can be explored to augment the existing Resource base, including the Scab Zone and the Gold Target. Much of the focus in 2014 will be on the Gold Target and trying to develop a NI 43-101 compliant Resource that can be added to the existing sulphide Resource.

Drilling

Taranis has completed 152 drill holes on the project, numerous trenches and underground sampling. The core is stored on-site and in Revelstoke, British Columbia.

Trenching

35 Trenches Taranis has completed a number of trenches on the project that have been systematically sampled and provide valuable information about the geology and structure of the deposit. These trenches are also integrated into the NI 43-101 Resurce estimate at Thor.

Investment

Taranis has invested over C$3.5 Million on the project to date, and continues to assemble exploration opportunities in the area through the acquisition of mineral properties, and also through the re-evaluation of the the Westmin data that it has purchased. This has made the cash cost of discovery at approximately 25 cents/Oz. Ag Equivalent!

Property

The exploration property includes a number of Mineral Tenures and Crown Grants that cover 100% of the Thor District, and also includes the Lime Dyke property recently acquired northeast of the Thor Project.
